Employee caught leaking confidential files of Haryana Home Minister’s office

In a shocking incident, an employee working in the Haryana secretariat has been found leaking confidential documents of the state Home Minister’s office. The issue has become the talk of the town. In wake of the seriousness of the issue, Home Minister Anil Vij himself took cognisance of the matter and called Chandigarh police immediately as the area falls in the jurisdiction of the state capital. He ordered Chief Secretary Vijay Vardhan to file an FIR against the above-mentioned employee as he is an employee of the secretariat as the whole staff works under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary.

Besides, Vij talked with the Additional Chief Secretary and Home Secretary Rajiv Arora and ordered them to take the required action.

It is learnt that a few of the employees were reported with pale faces after the incident took place. One of the senior officials said that it cannot be denied that a few of the other employees might be involved. Thus, the Haryana government now is eyeing such suspected elements.

Vij said that he had come to know from internal sources that an employee working in his office was involved in the leakage of confidential files and in the wake of this, he was having an eye on him continuously. Vij called him on Friday and asked him to unlock his mobile. Further, Vij said that he was surprised on seeing that the employee had a lot of photos of seven departments including Home, Health, and Urban Local Bodies, the departments he holds the portfolio of.

In view of this, he called the police and ordered them to take stern action against the employee as he had breached the norms by leaking the secrecy of the documents.

It is pertinent to mention that Home is one of the departments of utmost importance. Thus, the seriousness of the matter can be understood. It has also come to the surface that officials of CMO level were in touch with the employee which is very surprising. Vij himself was taking every minor input about the matter and the uploading of the data lying in the employee›s mobile was being taken till late at night. Vij said that it seems the employee was charging money in exchange for these documents which is a matter of serious concern. The employee hails from Rohtak district and is working as an assistant in the Haryana secretariat.
