The Returning Officer 4-Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency, Dr. Rakesh Minhas, has issued the election notification for the upcoming Parliamentary Elections in the constituency, marking the commencement of the electoral process.
Scheduled to be conducted during the first phase of elections, the notification outlines the timeline and procedures for candidates interested in contesting in the parliamentary elections.
Nomination papers can be filed by candidates or their proposers at the Returning Officer’s office or Assistant Returning Officer 67-Kathua AC (ACR Kathua) at Deputy Commissioner’s office, Kathua, between 11:00 AM to 03:00 PM on any day (other than public holiday) until March 27, 2024.
Candidates may obtain nomination forms from the office of the Returning Officer situated at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Kathua.
Scrutiny of the nomination papers is scheduled for March 28, 2024, at 01:00 PM at Deputy Commissioner’s Office Kathua. Withdrawal of candidature is permitted until March 30, 2024, until 03:00 PM. Polling for the constituency is set for April 19, 2024, with voting to take place from 07:00 AM to 06:00 PM.
Addressing a Press Conference, Dr. Minhas highlighted that no nomination process will occur on March 23rd, 24th, and 25th, 2024, due to public holidays. He urged all eligible candidates and stakeholders to adhere to the election schedule and procedures outlined in the Election Notification, emphasizing the importance of active participation and cooperation to ensure a fair and transparent election process.
