On Tuesday, to educate media personnel about election-related matters for the 2023 Assembly Elections, the Election Department organized a workshop at HCM RIPA in Jaipur. During the workshop, Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Gupta discussed various innovations in the Election Department with media workers. He stated that Media Certification and Monitoring Committees (MCMCs) will be formed at the district and state levels to control rumours and fake news.
Addressing the workshop, Gupta mentioned that the Election Commission of India has established protocols for Paid News and Fake News. Pre-certification is mandatory for advertisements. Media personnel were encouraged to stay updated on various innovations related to the election, such as MCC, Paid News, Fake News, Voter Lists, and IT applications including the Suvidha App, C-Vigil App, KYC App, Voter Helpline App, Saksham App, Model Code of Conduct, Sweep, and the Complaints Resolution Portal.
Gupta also emphasized that this time, more than 50% of polling centres will have live webcasting. Online applications can be submitted for tasks like linking voters’ names, making corrections in the voter list, and home voting. Information related to the election will also be provided through SMS.
Gupta further explained that many people want to know if their names are on the voter list before the elections. Therefore, they can find their names on the voter list using methods like Bar Code, QR Code, Name or Father’s Name, and Voter Serial Number.
