ED raids Bengal Food Minister’s house in alleged civic body scam

In relation to an alleged recruitment scam in the Madhyamgram Municipality, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted a raid on Rathin Ghosh’s home on Thursday. According to sources, more than a dozen locations in the state, including Kolkata and the North 24 Parganas District, have been searched for Ghosh-related items. Former Madhyamgram Municipality Chairman Ghosh is charged with taking part in an alleged scheme to hire ineligible people for government jobs. Just days after prominent TMC leaders protested against the Center in New Delhi on October 2 and October 3, the raid on the Bengal minister took place.

The TMC has also called on its cadre to march to the Raj Bhavan in Kolkata today against what they allege is the BJP’s attempts to silence the party.
