An inter-state drug racket has been busted by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Mumbai and Gujarat. Six people have been arrested including a former Air India pilot. 60 kg of synthetic stimulant drug Mephedrone worth Rs. 120 Cr has been seized.
According to the agency, Sohail Gaffar Mahida who was trained in the US and worked for Air India as a pilot from 2016 to 2018, Muthu Pichaidas, SM Chowdhury, M I Ali, and MF Chisty were arrested from Mumbai and Bhaskar V from Gujarat’s Jamnagar.
According to a representative of the NCB, the arrests were conducted after certain individuals’ questionable activity was detected by the naval intelligence unit at Jamnagar.
Before collecting 10.35 kg of the drugs, NCB’s zonal director, Amit Ghawate, claimed they worked on the information and discovered Mephedrone was being moved from Gujarat to another state. On October 3, Bhaskar V, Mahida, Chowdhury, and Pichaidas were detained.
According to the officials two new people, Ali and Chisty, were arrested and 50 kg of Mephedrone was seized on Thursday from a godown in South Mumbai based on the interrogation of four.
