Donal Bisht opens up on her role in ‘The Socho Project’

Dil To Happy Hai Ji actress Donal Bisht is all set to star in India’s firstever musical web series, The Socho Project as ‘Sasha Pink’. The web series directed by Abhigyan Jha is an attempt to show the bare reality of the music industry.

Talking about the web series, Donal says, “This web series showcases life in the music industry. Just like the Bollywood movie ‘Fashion’ gave a glimpse of the reality of the glamour industry, The Socho Project shows the life of an artist in the music industry through various scenarios.

Everybody in the show has grey, and real characters, and it sh ows that people can’t be nice all the time. But I won’t say it’s exactly negative; because only harming someone would make one negative. And of course, in every industry whether it’s music or glamour, there are ups and downs, and pros and cons.”

She further adds, “The director (Abhigyan Jha) wanted to create a film around the music industry. So, our agenda was to show the reality of the music industry; which of course has both the positive as well as negative sides. Our main aim was to showcase the reality of the industry through our love of music. And it’s a coincidence that the promotions for this web show began at the same time when artists like A.R. Rahman and Sonu Nigam spoke up about the injustice they faced in the music industry. We started shooting for this series in December. So this adds to the interest element of the web series and people are now looking forward to it”.

Talking about how she bagged the role, and her look as Sasha Pink, she says, “I was getting lots of offers for web series after Dil Toh Happy Hai Ji, but I always look for a good story. Almost all stories had intimate bed scenes and the storyline revolving around the same. I never wanted this kind of scene to be the center point of the story, I wanted my character to be the center point. I always look at the story, and how it’s told. And The Socho Project being the first-ever musical web series had me excited. I love my character as Sasha Pink and feel like it can’t get any better than this, this is great! I can’t wait to see what the audience will respond to this, as I’ve never been seen in the diva avatar before, and my look is also as such; it’s 180 degree from my original look”.
