Delhi: Two-story Building collapses in Kabir Nagar; two dead

A two-story building collapsed in Kabir Nagar, Welcome, resulting in the tragic loss of two lives and leaving another person critically injured, according to an official statement.

Reportedly, the local authorities were alerted to the building collapse around 02:16 am. At the time of the incident, the first floor of the building was unoccupied, while the ground floor was being utilized for jeans cutting.

During the collapse, three workers became trapped under the rubble. Despite prompt efforts from the rescue teams, two of the workers succumbed to their injuries upon reaching GTB Hospital.

The deceased individuals have been identified as Arshad, aged 30, and Tauhid, aged 20. The third worker, Rehan, aged 22, sustained critical injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment at GTB Hospital, as confirmed by North East DCP Joy Tirkey.

The building’s owner, Shahid, has been identified, and authorities are currently endeavoring to locate him. The official emphasized that legal measures will be pursued in relation to the incident.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
