Delhi street murder: Kejriwal announces Rs 10 lakh compensation for minor girl’s family

The Delhi Government on Tuesday approved a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the family of the minor girl who was brutally stabbed to death on Monday in broad daylight on a street in Delhi’s Shahbad Dairy area.

It is a very painful incident. The Delhi government will provide the girl’s family with compensation in the sum of Rs 10 lakhs, and we assure them that our government will see to it that the accused receives the worst punishment possible, added Kejriwal. ” We are concerned about Delhi’s general law and order situation. He remarked,” Minister Atishi will pay the family a visit.

Sahil, the 20-year-old accused of murdering the 16-year-old  arrested from Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh on Monday, was produced in a Delhi court today and sent to police remand for two days.

On Monday, the Delhi Chief Minister requested that Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena intervene in this regard.

“A minor girl was brutally murdered in broad daylight. It is regrettable and terrible. The criminals don’t feel any fear. LG sir, you are in charge of maintaining law and order; take action. The safety of the Delhi residents is our top priority, he declared.

A CCTV recording of the event apparently shows Sahil stabbed the girl several times with a knife. She went down to the ground, but he kept stabbing her. He kicked her before using a nearby concrete slab to thrash her in the head. People may be seen in the clip observing the events unfold and walking past without intervening. At one point, a dog is seen approaching the spot.

The police said that they had registered an FIR in the matter under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Shahbad Dairy Police Station.
