The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday said Delhi recorded the coldest day of the season.
Meanwhile, Safdarjung and INA on Wednesday recorded the lowest temperature of 4.4 degrees Celsius.
IMD Scientist Dr. RK Jenamani said, “Cold wave persists in the city, today is the coldest day of this season. Today Safdarjung and INA recorded the lowest temp of 4.4 degrees Celsius. The temperature has been recorded as similar to the cold spell between December 25-27.”
Moreover, no dense fog conditions have been recorded in the last 24 hours.
“The cold condition will remain in the city for the next 24-48 hours due to the upcoming Western Disturbance (WD),” IMD Scientist Dr. RK Jenamani said.
However, for the next two days, IMD issued an orange alert. In Delhi and adjoining areas a cold wave continued to grip Delhi because of that the temperature dipped.
“Cold wave conditions are likely to continue over northwest India during the next three days and the intensity will decrease thereafter,” IMD Scientist Dr. RK Jenamani said.
Furthermore, people were seen huddled around the bonfire in the wee hours.
