On Saturday, Bibhav was apprehended about the purported attack on Maliwal and appeared before Delhi’s Tis Hazari Court where he was placed in police custody for five days. As per insiders from the Delhi Police, investigators are considering transporting Bibhav to Mumbai due to suspicions that he discarded or erased crucial phone data in the city before reformatting it. Following this, the Delhi Police is considering adding the section for destruction of evidence in this case.
The recent event occurred shortly after the AAP leader and former head of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) accused Bibhav of erasing segments of the CCTV footage from the CM’s Civil Lines residence. These segments would have unequivocally proven his guilt. Meanwhile, Bhibav Kumar wasn’t cooperating with the ongoing probe. The police will attempt to recover the phone data with assistance from forensic specialists. Additionally, Kejriwal’s previous associate might be escorted to the CM’s Civil Lines residence in Delhi to ascertain the precise cause of the ‘fight’.
Maliwal, in her complaint, alleged that Kejriwal’s former personal secretary “slapped” her “at least seven to eight times” while she “continued screaming” and “brutally dragged” her while “kicking” her in her “chest, stomach, and pelvis area.” Bibhav was booked under IPC sections 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), 354B (assault or use of criminal force on a woman with intent to disrobe), 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), and 509 (word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman).
Metropolitan Magistrate Gaurav Goyal remanded Bibhav to five days of police custody for further questioning in this case. He is scheduled to be produced before the court again on May 23, once the term of his remand expires.
