Delhi offers subsidy to those who opt for it: Kejriwal

Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, declared on Wednesday that only those who choose to receive a subsidy will receive one in the nation’s capital. The convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) claimed during a press conference that many residents were ready to pay their electricity bills in full and desired the option to forego the power subsidy.

The chief minister referred to it as a valid demand and stated that only those who truly needed the subsidies should receive it.

“Some people don’t want to get free electricity. Now only those people in Delhi will get an electricity subsidy who will apply for it. You can start applying from today,” he said.

Kejriwal stated that starting on Wednesday, consumers will have access to both online and offline means for choosing power subsidies. He said that clients in Delhi could choose the subsidy by leaving a missed call at 7011311111.

Those who choose to continue receiving the power subsidy will be sent an application form. They can also leave a missed call at 7011311111, and they will receive a WhatsApp message with a form to complete in order to submit a subsidy application.

Kejriwal said that those applying for subsidy till October 31 will be paid subsidy of the month. Every month people can apply for subsidy.
