Delhi is going to observe 5 dry days in October 2022 – November 2022

‘Dry day’ means, the sale of liquor will be prohibited in the state on that day. The national capital will observe dry day today i.e. 5 October, 2022, on the occasion of Dussehra and also four days in the coming weeks due to other festivities. As per the previous excise policy in 2021-22, the number of dry days in Delhi were cut to just three i.e Republic Day (26 January), Independence Day (15 August) and Gandhi Jayanti (2 October). The hotels, clubs and restaurants were not allowed to serve liquor on these three national holidays. After Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena recommended a CBI probe alleging irregularities in the implementation, Arvind Kejriwal withdrew it’s excise policy 2021-22. The government reverted back to the old excise policy that was in operation before 17 November, 2021, under which there were 21 dry days.In an order issued on Monday, the Delhi government’s excise department said that all the liquor vends will be closed across the national capital on Dussehra (5 October), Eid Milad-un Nabi and Valmiki Jayanti (9 October), Diwali (24 October), Guru Nanak’s birthday (8 November) and Guru Tegh Bahadur’s Martyrdom Day (24 November). The Delhi government said the licensees will not be compensated on account of any changes in the list.
