Delhi govt urges officials to not take direct orders from L-G

The AAP government in Delhi has directed officials to stop taking direct orders from Delhi L-G VK Saxena, sources said on Friday.

The development takes place due to an ongoing tussle between the Delhi government and the L-G office over several issues. The tussle grew deeper amid the government’s proposal to send school teachers to Finland to get training.

Earlier, the AAP leaders alleged L-G of issuing orders to officials without consulting the elected Delhi government.

The Kejriwal government has urged the officers to refrain from taking orders from L-G. All ministers have written letters to the secretaries of their respective departments requesting that the Transaction of Business Regulations (TBR) be strictly followed.

The Delhi government has instructed the secretaries to inform the minister-in-charge of all directives received from the L-G, as per a source.

The Lt. Governor has been giving orders to department secretaries without consulting the elected government which is against a violation of Rule 49 and 50 of TBR and the Supreme Court ruling.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has made it clear that implementation of orders in violation of SC directives and the Constitution will be viewed seriously by government, the source claimed.
