Delhi excise policy case: Hearing commences at Rouse Avenue Court

The hearing in the Delhi Excise Policy case in which Manish Sisodia is one of the accused, commenced at the Rouse Avenue Court on Friday. Enforcement Directorate submitted fresh findings on the matter. Earlier today, the former Delhi Deputy CM was brought to the court for hearing.
In connection with the Delhi excise policy case, the former deputy Delhi chief minister Sisodia is presently being held by the ED. In Tihar Jail, where he was being held under court supervision, he was taken into custody by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
Sisodia was detained by the CBI on February 26 in connection with the booze policy case and placed in 14 days of judicial detention on March 6. He was detained in relation to claimed irregularities in the formulation and application of Delhi’s National Capital Territory’s excise policy. (GNCTD).
He was committed to judicial detention until March 20 by Delhi’s Rouse Avenue court.
Earlier in the case, the ED made another arrest and detained Hyderabad-based merchant Arun Ramchandra Pillai.
The investigation team has also questioned K Kavitha, a BRS MLC and daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, regarding the liquor policy issue.
In the midst of the fatal Delta Covid-19 pandemic in 2021, the Delhi Cabinet, headed by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, approved the excise policy.
According to the Delhi government, the policy was developed to guarantee maximum revenue generation, end the sale of fake or untaxed alcohol in Delhi, as well as to enhance user experience.
