Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Strengthens Ties with Singapore in Official Visit

On his return journey from Indonesia, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh made a stopover in Singapore, where he paid homage to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. The Defence Minister laid a wreath at the Indian National Army (INA) marker, commemorating the ‘Unknown Warriors’ of the INA. The memorial, proposed by Netaji himself, was initiated in 1945, with the National Heritage Board of Singapore erecting the INA marker in the same location.

During his visit, Rajnath Singh also visited the Sri Srinivasa Perumal temple, one of the oldest Hindu temples in Singapore, offering prayers and expressing his sense of blessing. Additionally, the Defence Minister explored the Indian Heritage Centre in Little India, documenting the history of Singaporean Indians.

This stopover followed Singh’s attendance at the 10th ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus) in Jakarta, Indonesia. He engaged in bilateral discussions with his Indonesian and Vietnamese counterparts, fostering regional collaboration. Singh also interacted with the Indian community in Jakarta, emphasizing India’s achievements and connecting with the diaspora.

In Singapore, Rajnath Singh’s visit underscores the historical and cultural ties between the two nations, with tributes to Netaji and engagement with the vibrant Indian community in the region.
