DC calls for co-ordination among officers in SC Act cases

During the quarterly meeting of the District Level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee at the Mini Secretariat auditorium, Deputy Commissioner Sushil Sarwan emphasized the need for coordinated action by police, lawyers, and officials of the District Welfare Department under the Scheduled Caste Prevention of Atrocities Act.

The Deputy Commissioner urged prompt relief for victims, stating that the Welfare Department offers financial assistance to victim families after FIR registration.
He further instructed officers to handle cases with empathy, ensuring timely benefits for affected families. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the police department’s role in forwarding challans to the District Welfare Officer for Atrocities Act cases. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of monitoring cases where sections are removed by investigating officers after FIR registration under the Scheduled Caste Act.

A total of 25 cases were addressed in the meeting, with 8 cases receiving challans and financial assistance provided in 14 cases after FIR registration. The meeting included the presence of Municipal Magistrate Rajesh Poonia, Assistant District Attorney Sanjeet, District Welfare Officer Deepika, District Program Officer Aaru Vashishtha, Deputy Superintendent of Police, and various government and non-government members.
