In MP’s Gwalior district, a Dalit groom was reportedly assaulted by individuals from an ‘upper caste’ and forcibly removed from a horse-drawn carriage during his wedding procession as it passed through their area, as per police reports.
The groom, Naresh Jatav’s family claimed that the accused objected to their procession passing through their neighborhood. However, the accused have countered, alleging that during the procession, currency notes were thrown at a woman from their locality, leading to a confrontation. The incident occurred on the night of May 20th.
