Cyclone Biparjoy: BSF expresses confidence to combat situation in Gujarat

The Border Security Force (BSF) has made sufficient preparations in response to Cyclone “Biparjoy”‘s approach to Gujarat’s coastal regions in order to handle any issues brought on by the storm.
Ravi Gandhi, the Inspector General of BSF Gujarat, toured the coastal areas of Bhuj and assessed the level of readiness for any eventuality. BSF IG Ravi Gandhi told that BSF soldiers were stationed near the international boundary. According to the IMD estimate, the area in question extends from Mandvi to Karachi. Our personnel are fully prepared and on high alert. When someone comes to us with a concern, we assist them. We also communicate with other security agencies like the NDRF. According to a BSF press statement, about 50 residents of the Gunao village, which is near to the Jakhau coast, have been relocated to the BSF’s outpost in Gunao.
“The boundary Security Force has secured the availability of resources needed for rescue operations in addition to guarding the international boundary. A plan of action is being ensured for all necessary aid to the civil administration and the local population, and coordination with the civil authorities has been formed. A BSF outpost in Gunao has received about 50 locals from Gunao hamlet, which is near to the Jakhau coast, according to a press statement. Meanwhile, the Director of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Radhe Shyam Sharma said that red, orange and yellow alerts have been issued in several districts of Rajasthan, in the wake of heavy rainfall.
Speaking to ANI, the IMD Director said, “Currently it (Biparjoy) is currently under the category of severe cyclonic storm. Its movement on Wednesday remained in the north-east direction. It is expected to hit Saurashtra, Kutch and Gujarat on June 15. It will enter Rajasthan’s Kutch on June 16 in depressed form and will further weaken”.
“Heavy rainfall is expected in some districts. We have issued red alerts in Barmer and Jaldor districts regarding rainfall. Orange and yellow alert has also been issued in several other districts,” he added. On the evening of June 15, Biparjoy is anticipated to make landfall close to the Jakhau coast before travelling the entire length of the Rann up to Rajasthan.
