Congress to protest nationwide against ED summons to Sonia Gandhi

Congress on Thursday decided to launch a nationwide protest on 21 July, the the day Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi is scheduled to appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the National Herald case.

The decision was taken in a meeting at the Congress headquarters. Mallikarjun Kharge, the leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha, KC Venugopal, Pawan Bansal, Mukul Wasnik, Ajay Maken, Randeep Surjewala, Bhawar Jitendra Singh, and Shakti Singh Gohil, a Rajya Sabha MP and AICC in-charge for Delhi, attended the meeting.

Sources claim that the party has also prepared pamphlets about the National Herald case to be distributed to the general public.

With the Monsoon Session of Parliament starting on July 18, the Congress MPs will also take the opportunity to protest inside the Parliament premises against the summoning of the ED. Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said, “Congress President Sonia Gandhi is a tigress. She is not afraid of these things. She has seen so many things like this. She will go to the ED office and face this government. “

Sonia Gandhi, the interim president of the Congress, has been called in by the Enforcement Directorate to testify in connection with the National Herald case, in which senior Congressmen Mallikarjun Kharge and Pawan Bansal have previously testified.
