Congress files police complaint against Amit Shah’s derogatory speech

Three senior Congress leaders, Randeep Singh Surjewala, Dr Parmeshwar, and Chief of Karnataka Congress DK Shivakumar, registered a police complaint today at Bengaluru’s High Grounds police station against Amit Shah and several other BJP leaders, as per the complaint copy.

The Congress leaders alleged that Amit Shah made provocative statements that have been promoting enmity and hatred. He made this remark during his rallies in Karnataka, where assembly polls are scheduled to take place on 10 May.

“The Union Home Minister went on to say in his speech that if Congress unseats the BJP in Karnataka, then communal riots will occur in the state.” The Congress leaders allege that “how can he say this?” “We have registered a complaint with the Election Commission of India regarding the matter,” said DK Shivakumar.

In the complaint, the names of Amit Shah and other BJP leaders were mentioned. The BJP organised the rally at Vijaypura and several other places in Karnataka on 25th April.

It has been mentioned in the complaint that Amit Shah made false statements to tarnish the image of the Indian National Congress and spread communal disharmony amongst the crowd present at the rally.

A video has also been attached to the complaint, and Sections like 153, 505 (2), 171G, and 120B of the IPC were mentioned. It should be noted that Amit Shah has been addressing back to back rallies in Karnataka as he is the saffron party’s star campaigner for the upcoming assembly polls in the state to be held on 10 May and result would be declared on 13 May.
