Cong stands firmly with farmers: Ashok Gehlot

Jaipur: Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot wrote on social media that the Congress stands firmly with the farmers’ agitation.

Targeting the central government and the BJP, he said that while the central government is awarding Bharat Ratna to Chaudhary Charan Singh and M.S. Swaminathan, on the other hand, it is using tear gas and water cannons on the farmers demanding legislation at minimum support prices.

He called it a manifestation of the central government’s insensitivity. Gehlot wrote, “When Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, he himself advocated for the MSP law. But now, he does not even want to allow peaceful demonstrations by the farmers demanding MSP. This reflects the double standards of the BJP government on farmers’ issues.”
