CM Gehlot Claims To Have Fulfilled 75% Of Poll Manifesto Promises

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday claimed that 75 per cent of the promises in the manifesto have been fulfilled and also slammed the Opposition for “diverting attention from the present sorry state of affairs in the country which is witnessing an atmosphere of mistrust and violence”.

Replying to the discussion on the motion of thanks to the Governor’s address in the Legislative Assembly, Gehlot said: “The state government has fulfilled 70% of the promises made in the manifesto. Approvals have been given to around 80% of the works and many works have been started. The previous government had opened 81 universities in five years, but we have opened 123 universities in three years.”

Gehlot said that Rajasthan is becoming the first state where English medium schools are being opened in villages. “Earlier youth used to go out of the state, but now they are getting the opportunity to study in their state,” he added.

“The intention of our government is to hold the recruitment examinations in a time-bound manner so that the youth get jobs,” the CM said.

The chief minister claimed that his government has waived the loan of farmers worth Rs 14,000 crore soon after coming to power.

Gehlot said: “We connected various sections of the society in corona management and fulfilled the resolution ‘No One Sleeps Hungry’. The World Health Organisation praised Rajasthan for corona management.”

Taking a dig at the Opposition, the chief minister said: “The Constitution of the country was made in the atmosphere of unity in diversity, but today both the Constitution and the Democracy are in danger. It should be a concern for all of us.”

Gehlot further pointed out that there is an atmosphere of distrust, unrest, violence and tension in the country and the issue of CBI investigation into the REET paper leak case is being made to divert the attention from the same.

He said that the paper leak is not the problem of Rajasthan alone. The paper of various recruitment examinations got leaked in Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, including central government’s UGC-NET, SSC-CGL and Army-GD, Gehlot said, adding that none of these cases is being investigated by the CBI.
