Under the leadership of Haryana Chief Minister, Manohar Lal, the State Government has taken a pioneering step forward today by providing significant relief to farmers impacted by crop damage during the Kharif season of 2023. In a proactive move aimed at mitigating the challenges faced by farmers, the government has re-evaluated the compensation framework for crop losses and re-sowing activities during the said season. Following careful consideration, the government has decided to disburse an additional sum of Rs. 18.67 crore directly into the bank accounts of affected farmers.
This assistance is targeted towards those who have borne the impact of crop damage across 1692.3 acres of agricultural land. Addressing a press conference here today, the Chief Minister said that a total compensation amount of Rs. 130.88 crore has been released so far. This includes the compensation amount released on December 14, 2023, which was Rs. 97.93 crore, the compensation amount released on October 11, 2023, which was Rs. 5.96 crore, compensation amount for loss of life, which was Rs. 1.60 crore and Rs. 6.71 crore for losses to commercial properties in urban areas. School Education Minister, Kanwar Pal also remained present on this occasion.
The maximum amount of compensation of Rs 5,85,38,732 has been given to the farmers of this Ambala district, followed by Fatehabad, where farmers have received compensation of Rs 5,54,34,067. In addition, compensation amounting to Rs. 3,29,42,000 and Rs. 2,50,22,000 has been given to the farmers of the Kurukshetra and Kaithal districts respectively.
