Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel backlashes at the Central government, alleging misuse of central agencies to “suppress the opposition”.
He criticized the Central government’s “dictatorial attitude”.
Baghel said, “A dictatorial attitude has been adopted. We respect all the central agencies, but the way they are acting is unfortunate. It is being used to crush, suppress the opposition, it is not good for the democracy.”
The Chief Minister’s statement came in the midst of the National Herald case investigation. Earlier reports stated that the Herald House office was sealed.
The probe agency came into action after the ED carried out raids at 12 different locations in Delhi and at other places in which top Congress leaders were questioned regarding the National Herald case.
Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge, who was questioned by the ED on Thursday in connection with the Herald case, alleged the Central government that these frequent raids by the Central agencies are an attempt by the government to eliminate the opposition.
Kharge said, “if the government wanted non-involvement in such matters (money laundering), it should perform its job unbiasedly, but the way they are doing it so hurriedly implies that it is their attempt to defame and demoralize the Congress and eliminate the Bhartiya Janata Party’s Opposition.”
