Child-trafficking gang busted in Delhi

A child trafficking gang has been busted in the National Capital. While the police have intensified operations against such gangs in New Delhi and its surrounding areas, these nefarious activities do not seem to come to an end anytime soon.

In a recent development, the crime branch of Delhi Police has arrested five women and two men, who were part of one such gang. This gang used to particularly target infants. The police have found children up to 2 months old in their possession.

The gang kept a close eye on childless couples and developed contact with them, as they were their target consumers due to their yearning for a kid. Based on their demand, the gang used to kidnap infants and demand huge sums of money in exchange from the prospective parents.

The investigation, conducted by the TDGR network, has also revealed that this gang conducted its operations near an IVF Centre and targeted couples who used to visit this centre. After identifying the interested couples, the gang started looking for a suitable child.

The police have revealed that the gang cracked a deal worth more than Rs 6 lakh this time, which was expected to take place at Uttam Nagar. A woman named Madhu and her companion reached Uttam Nagar and called another woman named Jyoti. Jyoti was carrying an infant aged 2.5 months. Jyoti was further accompanied by a woman named Barkha and a man named Bablu. This time around, there was no buyer. Rather, the police disguised themselves as interested parties. As soon as the gang took Rs 4 lakh from them, the police became alert and arrested the gang upon receiving a cue.

Two arrested accused have been identified as Simran and Pawan. It also came to be known that the woman named Jyoti used to work at the IVF centre and used to share information about childless couples with the gang. A Jharkhand-based man named Qutubuddin then used to bring infants there and sell them.
