Chandigarh experienced a rise in temperatures to a pleasant 26°C against the backdrop of clear skies, as reported by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). This marks an increase from Wednesday’s 25.5°C, reaching one degree above the normal range and marking the highest temperature since November 25, when it reached 26.5°C.
While the maximum temperature climbed, the minimum temperature dropped from 10.7°C on Wednesday to 10.4°C on Thursday, aligning with seasonal norms. Shallow fog was observed in the early morning on Thursday, with similar conditions expected on Friday and Saturday.
The IMD predicts a potential drop in the minimum temperature below the 10°C threshold in the upcoming days, an occurrence yet to transpire this season. Despite the anticipation of a fresh Western Disturbance from December 11 onwards, its impact on the city is projected to be minimal.Over the next three days, the forecast indicates the maximum temperature will hover around 24°C, while the minimum temperature is expected to stay at approximately 9°C. The air quality in the city is rated as “moderate,” with the highest Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 186 in Sector 53, followed by 153 at Sector 22 and 127 at Sector 25 around 10 pm.
In Panchkula, the air quality is reported as “satisfactory” with an AQI of 66, according to the Haryana State Pollution Control Board observatory in Sector 6.
