Chandigarh Congress raises alarm over Centre’s ‘MISUSE’ of govt agencies

Chandigarh Congress staged a robust protest on Monday at the Income Tax Office in Sector 17, condemning the Modi government for allegedly misusing central agencies for political motives.Former Union Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal, local Congress unit president HS Lucky, and numerous senior leaders and workers participated in the demonstration.

Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Party spokesperson Rajiv Sharma asserted that the protest was in response to the Modi government freezing the bank accounts of the Congress Party following the Supreme Court’s declaration of electoral bonds as illegal and unconstitutional.
Sharma accused the government of attempting to divert attention from its corruption promotion by targeting the Congress Party.

Pawan Kumar Bansal criticized the BJP for allegedly harassing the Congress party over small cash donations made by Congress MPs to their own party six years ago. He deemed the Income Tax Department’s sealing of bank accounts as politically motivated and unjust.
Bansal claimed that while the BJP benefited from illegal electoral bonds, the Congress party relied on crowdfunding and small donations from lakhs of supporters.

Bansal further alleged that the central government, fearing public discontent and the Congress party’s growing popularity under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, was obstructing the party’s campaigns addressing real issues. Chandigarh Congress President HS Lucky condemned the BJP for its dictatorial policies, accusing it of using central agencies as puppets to suppress those exposing misgovernance and divisive policies. Lucky highlighted the BJP’s alleged role in fraud and tampering of ballot papers during the recent Chandigarh Mayor elections, tarnishing the city’s image. He warned the BJP to cease efforts to undermine the Indian Constitution and engage in electoral malpractices, asserting that the people would vote them out of power. Lucky emphasized that the Congress Party, led by Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, exposes BJP’s wrongdoings nationwide, prompting retaliatory attacks from the BJP.
