The Chandigarh EV policy and the recent restriction on new registrations for petrol two-wheelers have caused concern and problems for city residents and auto dealers.
In an effort to address these issues, Jatinder Pal Malhotra, the State BJP President, along with other BJP leaders and members of the Chandigarh Automobile Dealers Association, will meet with Governor of Punjab and Chandigarh Administrator Banwari Lal Purohit in a delegation led by Malhotra. Malhotra emphasised that their concerns do not oppose the introduction of electric vehicles (EVs), recognizing it as a vital technology for environmental protection. Their protest is rooted in the abrupt implementation without proper preparation.
Malhotra stressed the importance of understanding all related issues and finding solutions before introducing EVs, including the establishment of charging stations, aligning production with demand, and educating the public about this technology.
He assured residents and businesses of a timely resolution to the problem and expressed the BJP’s commitment to supporting the common people.
