The festive spirit of Lohri resonated with grandeur at the Jhanjedi campus of Chandigarh Group of Colleges, marked by a lively celebration. The commencement of the event saw CGC Group President Rachpal Singh Dhaliwal and MD Arsh Dhaliwal lighting the ceremonial fire, symbolizing the festival’s essence of new beginnings. Staff members and students from various departments actively participated in this joyous occasion.
Campus Director Dr. Neeraj Sharma initiated the proceedings by extending a warm welcome to all attendees. Students received insights into the history and significance of Lohri, which marks the pinnacle of winter.
The event featured a vibrant array of cultural presentations, including folk songs, solo and duet dances, poetry, and solo singing, showcasing the diverse talents of the students. The campus atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm and joy during the festivities.
Students presented folk songs, dialects, and dances in celebration of Lohri, with the dialects winning hearts. The tradition of throwing peanuts and jaggery into the fire added to the merriment.
In a thoughtful gesture, warm clothes and essentials were distributed among the less fortunate to alleviate the effects of the cold. President Rachpal Singh Dhaliwal, speaking on the occasion, expressed his wish for Lohri to bring happiness to the lives of students and teachers.
He urged the youth to unite against the societal menace of drug abuse, encouraging them to refrain from drug consumption and discourage others from doing so.
