Centre has upgraded the security of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Sarma

According to officials, the security has been upgraded from Z category CRPF (northeast) to Z+ category (all India).According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma’s security arrangements were reviewed “in consultation with the Central Security Agency.”

“It has been decided to upgrade his current CRPF security cover in the North East region to Z+ category on an all-India basis,” the statement continued.

The union home ministry has asked the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the country’s largest Central Armed Police Force, to assist.

VIP security covers are divided into several categories: X, Y, Y+, Z, Z+. The Special Protection Group (SPG) is the prime minister’s highest level of security.
