CBI ARRESTS KINGPIN BINOY MISHRA’S BROTHER BIKASH FROM HOSPITAL

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Bikash Mishra, the brother of coal scam prime accused Binoy Mishra, from a private hospital on Thursday.

Acting on the direction of a special CBI court in Asansol, the central agency started efforts to arrest Bikash. A copy of the court order was also sent to the hospital.

The CBI officers said that the hospital authorities would not be able to discharge Bikash without informing them. Bikash will be taken to the court after his release from the hospital.

According to CBI sources, Bikash, one of the accused in the coal smuggling case, will be in the hospital under their care for the time being.

The main accused in the coal scam, Anup Maji who used to hand over the money to the influential people, is alleged to be the brother of Binoy Mishra.

The CBI had earlier said that the “mixed brothers” were in complete control of how the “black” money of coal was handed over to the influential people of Kolkata or how some of their money got into the coal business. It was also alleged that Binoy and Bikash have several bogus businesses where they used the coal money. The investigators have also confiscated crores of rupees.

The CBI officers hope to get more information as soon as they start interrogating Bikash in custody. It was alleged that Bikash used to pocket the lion’s share of the coal money transactions.

Bikash was earlier arrested by ED officers in Delhi and was in jail for a month. Thereafter, he got bail. He applied for anticipatory bail when the CBI went to arrest Bikash. His trial was on Wednesday in Asansol CBI court. The court stated Bikash was not cooperating in the investigation and he could be arrested.

The CBI prosecutor told the court on Wednesday that Bikash’s arrest was crucial to the investigation and he also expressed concern that the probe could be affected if Bikash gets bail. The CBI also feared that important information could be lost. As a result, the court ordered his arrest.
