In a case of alleged fraud, a complaint has been filed against a person named Roop Ram Shukla, residing in Dhakoli, for deceiving the wife of the complainant by making her a partner in the business under the pretext of installing lifts for a company. The complainant, Bharat Bhushan Modi, informed the police that Roop Ram Shukla used to live on rent with him. Shukla claimed that he had received a contract worth almost 1.25 crores from a company to install lifts, and he needed a partner for this work. Succumbing to Shukla’s claims, the complainant, in turn, made his wife a partner and handed over an amount of around 62 lakhs. However, after some time, when neither the complainant’s wife received any work nor did Shukla return the money, a written complaint was lodged with the Mohali SSP, leading to an investigation. Following the inquiry, the police have registered a case against Roop Ram Shukla under charges of fraud.
