Capacity Building Takes Centre Stage at MC Chandigarh Workshop

The Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh organised a day-long workshop at Rani Laxmi Bai Mahila Bhawan, Sector 38 C, aiming to provide a platform for reviewing departmental accomplishments, ongoing projects, capacity building, and strategic discussions for continuous growth and development in services. This historic session brought together senior officials, staff, and field employees to address challenges and improve services for the citizens of Chandigarh.
The first session of the workshop focused on the Public Health Department, covering various aspects such as water supply and treatment, sewerage network and disposal, sewage treatment plants (STPs), TT water supply, metering, and billing of water and sewerage supply, maintenance of public conveniences, and the upkeep of rejuvenated water bodies.
The Public Health team shared their vision and important components in presentations on various topics, including the Flood Management Action Plan-2051, Management of Public Conveniences, 24×7 Water Supply Project, Safaimitra Suraksha, TT Water Augmentation, Review of AMRUT & AMRUT 2.0, Swachh Survekshan 2024 parameters, and ongoing projects and schemes.
Capacity building and discussions were integral parts of the workshop, allowing field staff to offer valuable feedback on challenges and suggest improvements to enhance departmental workflow.
Anindita Mitra, Commissioner of MC Chandigarh, emphasized that the initiative demonstrates MC Chandigarh’s unwavering commitment to progressive development. The workshop acknowledges the expertise of the department’s personnel and highlights the remarkable developments and projects that have shaped Chandigarh under MC Chandigarh’s vigilant stewardship.
Commissioner Mitra highlighted the significant progress made towards a Clean and Green Chandigarh, moving from the 66th position in Swacch Sarvekshan 2021 to the 11th position in Swacch Sarvekshan 2023. The city was also honored with the ‘Safaimitra Surakshit’ title by the President of India, Smt Draupadi Murmu.
She emphasized the importance of combining efforts and showcasing achievements to continue this journey. The platform encourages the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and innovative ideas that will propel the city towards even greater heights. Throughout the sessions, participants delved into ongoing projects, discussed challenges, and celebrated triumphs. This dynamic exchange fosters a culture of continuous learning and improvement, going beyond the dissemination of information. Active participation, questions, and engagement from all stakeholders are key to the success of this collaborative endeavor. The Commissioner expressed her deepest gratitude to every individual for their unwavering commitment and hard work, serving as the driving force behind the positive changes witnessed in the city. The workshop aims to celebrate collective efforts and use them as a catalyst for future successes.
