Cabinet approves elimination of Chief Wildlife Warden position in state legislation

The Haryana cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, approved the removal of the post of Chief Wildlife Warden (CWW) from the state rules through an amendment in the Haryana Wildlife Preservation Department, State Services, Executive (Group A and Group B) Service Rules of 1998.

According to the amendment, the position of CWW is now excluded from State Rules, as it has been incorporated at the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) level in the Indian Forest Service (IFS) for the Haryana Cadre by the Government of India. This change aligns with the instructions issued by the government over time.

The cabinet also endorsed amendments to the eligibility criteria and recruitment conditions concerning the cadres in the Haryana Forest Executive Section (Group C) Service Rules of 1998. Under the amendment, the ratio of direct recruitment to promotee forest rangers will be adjusted to 50:50, compared to the current ratio of 67:33. Tnn

The government is expected to modify the Information Technology (IT) Rules of 2021 to introduce regulations for AI companies and generative AI models. These amendments will incorporate provisions from the upcoming Digital India Bill, allowing users to demand algorithmic accountability from internet intermediaries and social media companies. The new rules will require AI algorithms and language models to be free from bias, preventing biased answers. Additionally, guidelines will be established to detect and prevent deepfake and synthetic content, along with regulations for loan apps operating in India.

Delhi, second only to Odisha, has notified amended forms under the Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act. The Health Minister has acknowledged the Lieutenant Governor’s displeasure. The Delhi government is committed to affordable healthcare and has requested the Lieutenant Governor to advise other states to expedite notification. The Chief Secretary’s attempt at intimidation is laughable.

The high court granted Dr. Suneetha Narreddy permission to amend her quash petition seeking to dismiss the case registered against her and her husband. The petition was filed by M. V. Krishan Reddy, the Personal Assistant of Y. S. Vivekananda Reddy, following a court directive. Former CBI officer Ram Singh also filed a similar petition, as he has been named as an accused in the case by Pulivendula police for alleged intimidation to provide false evidence.
