Serving as a bureaucrat or a government servant in India, can be stressful sometimes. In the times of Covid-19, government servants who are first responders, be it government doctors, IAS officers, IPS officers and the huge police and administrative staff of the government in various departments and municipal corporations, are up and working, putting their lives at risk.
It is now well known that any doctors have lost their lives after getting infected with Corona while treating patients, same has been the case with police officers and people working in other government departments. Putting their lives at risk, these people have been serving all of us.
Today, Balvinder Kumar, who currently serving as Member, Real Estate Regulatory Authority — Uttar Pradesh, writes on Policy & Politics as to how one can manage many difficult and stressful situations that one may face in the line of duty by practising mindfulness. While interviewing him many times on Policy & Politics, he has told me about the issues of stress management and how practising these techniques has personally helped him in his long career in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).
Balvinder Kumar is the author of two books — Redesign your life in the modern age, and Explore Your Life Journey. Today’s article by Balvinder Kumar concentrates on the issues of managing stress in times of corona which is also applicable to other stressful times. Hope you like it.
