BSF vigilant against infiltration attempts amid election season in J&K

With the advent of melting snow and the looming electoral process, the risk of infiltration attempts across the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir has heightened, warned a senior BSF official on Friday. However, security forces remain on high alert and are fully prepared to thwart any such endeavors, assured BSF Inspector General (Kashmir Frontier) Ashok Yadav.

Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, Yadav underscored the significance of the electoral period and emphasized the BSF’s readiness to counter any potential infiltration from across the border. He highlighted ongoing area domination exercises being conducted in collaboration with the Army to ensure the security of the LoC.

“While infiltration attempts along the LoC are a perpetual threat, they tend to escalate during crucial events such as elections,” remarked Yadav. He stressed the proactive stance adopted by the BSF and the Army in safeguarding the borders during this critical period. Yadav pointed out that the opening of infiltration routes following the snowmelt poses additional challenges, but comprehensive plans have been devised to address these vulnerabilities. Vulnerability maps have been prepared to guide area domination exercises, enabling security forces to effectively secure the border regions. Approximately 65 companies of the BSF have been deployed across various sectors in Kashmir, working in tandem with the Jammu and Kashmir Police to fortify the security apparatus. Yadav reiterated the commitment of security forces to ensure the smooth conduct of elections and maintain peace and stability in the region.

As Jammu and Kashmir braces for the electoral process amidst security concerns, the BSF remains steadfast in its mission to safeguard the integrity of the borders and thwart any threats to national security.
