BJP’s high-stakes meet, 2 nd candidate list in focus

The BJP meeting in New Delhi lasted for about five hours at JP Nadda’s residence, where the Central Home Minister Amit Shah was also present. The discussion revolved around the candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections. During this time, discussions were held on all 159 remaining seats after the first list. Additionally, JP Nadda and Amit Shah sought information from the state leaders about the controversy that arose after the first list was released. After this core committee meeting of the BJP, there will soon be another meeting of the Central Election Committee, where the final stamp will be put on the names of the second list.
Around 80 candidates may be announced in the BJP’s second list. In the second list of the BJP, about 80 candidates may be announced. A panel of three leaders has been prepared for each seat. The final form of the panel will be given before the Central Election Committee meeting. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be present at the CEC meeting. It should be noted that similar meetings were held at JP Nadda’s residence before the first list of candidates was released. However, when the CEC meeting was held in the evening, it was reported that Prime Minister Modi was unhappy with the lack of consensus. Therefore, this time, ahead of the CEC meeting, state core group leaders were called to Delhi, aiming to form a consensus on all seat panels.
Out of the 200 assembly seats in the state, the BJP has categorised 19 seats as D category. Of these, the BJP has already announced candidates for 11 seats in the first list. Candidates may be announced for the remaining 8 seats in the second list. On these seats, the BJP may introduce new faces, as the party had declared candidates for the first time for most of the 11 seats they announced in the first list.
