BJP State President urges informed participation of youth in farmers’ protest

Amidst the continuing farmer protests in Punjab, the state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Sunil Jakhar, engaged with the media today, expressing his readiness to travel to Delhi for discussions on farmers’ concerns. Jakhar raised concerns about the misrepresentation of farmers in the state and questioned the use of force against Punjab, particularly emphasizing the recent unfortunate incident involving the death of farmer Shubhkarans.

Jakhar stressed the importance of unveiling the truth and urged severe punishment for those responsible for the incident. He asserted that the people of Punjab don’t require validation of their bravery from anyone. Addressing the absence of Rakesh Tikait’s involvement in the struggle in Uttar Pradesh, Jakhar questioned Tikait’s stance and announced plans to visit Lakhimpur Kheri.

In his remarks on the Minimum Support Price (MSP) issue, Jakhar argued against MSP as the solution and cautioned against attempts to tarnish Punjab’s image. He suggested that other states should also demand MSP for their crops, highlighting the contrast with Punjab farmers facing batons.

Jakhar directed questions at Punjab’s leaders regarding the 23 crops for which MSP is being demanded, seeking clarification on how it would benefit the state. He shared information about central ministers visiting Chandigarh to discuss MSP guarantees for Punjab’s crops, while underscoring the dilemma faced by farmers demanding assurances for the purchase of 23 crops.

Acknowledging the risks faced by farmers, Jakhar also called upon the innocent and well-intentioned youth participating in the protest to be informed about the potential benefits of their involvement in the ongoing movement.

The BJP state president’s statements shed light on the multifaceted challenges faced by Punjab’s farmers, addressing issues of misrepresentation, violence, and the MSP dilemma, while also urging informed participation from the youth.
