BJP Leader Booked for Assault and Abuse in Indore

A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Chairman of the state Kesh Shilpi Mandal, Nandkishore Verma, who holds a cabinet minister status, has been booked for allegedly assaulting and using abusive language towards a woman in Indore district, Madhya Pradesh. The incident took place on Monday, September 16, around 11 am, within the jurisdiction of the Rau police station, according to the FIR. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media.

Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rubina Mizwani stated, “A woman came to the police station with a video on Monday, alleging an old property dispute. She claimed that when she went to her hotel for cleaning, her brother-in-law, Nandkishore Verma, confronted her, leading to a scuffle where he hurled abusive words.”

Following the woman’s complaint, a case was registered against Nandkishore Verma. ACP Mizwani added, “It was noted that Verma holds the status of a state cabinet minister. Further proceedings are underway.”

According to the FIR, the complainant detailed the incident, stating, “I went to my hotel with my brother for cleaning, and my brother-in-law Nandkishore Verma was already there. We have had old family disputes. On seeing me, he questioned why I was there and began accusing me of questionable behavior.” She continued, “When I asked why he was saying such things, he started abusing and pushing me. My brother and others witnessed the incident and tried to intervene. Verma also threatened that if I returned, he would kill me.”

The case has been registered under sections 296, 115 (2), and 351 (2) of the Bhartiya Nyay Sahita (BNS), 2023.
