BJP launches ‘Sankalp Patra Sujhav Abhiyaan’ in Punjab

Punjab BJP Chief Sunil Jakhar initiated a significant political move on Friday by flagging off 26 vans set to tour all 13 Lok Sabha seats in the state. The objective of this campaign, named ‘Sankalp Patra Sujhav Abhiyaan: Viksit Bharat – Modi ki Guarantee,’ is to gather inputs from voters across the state for the formulation of the party’s poll manifesto.

Speaking to media persons in Chandigarh during the flagging-off event, Jakhar emphasized that this marked the commencement of the Lok Sabha polls campaign. He highlighted the party’s unique approach with the slogan, “Hum vayede nahi, haqiqat bunte hain” (We weave realities, not promises). In comparison to the AAP, Jakhar stated, “Unlike the AAP, which made lots of promises but failed to fulfill them, we don’t give farzi (fake) guarantee but the actual guarantee which we can fulfill… and the actual guarantee is also called ‘Modi ki Guarantee.’”

Jakhar assured that the suggestions collected from the electorate during this outreach effort would be compiled and forwarded to the party’s central election committee in New Delhi after 10 days.

Responding to queries about a potential alliance with the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Jakhar expressed the party’s readiness to contest all 13 seats but acknowledged the public’s desire for an alliance.

Regarding the role of regional parties, Jakhar acknowledged their significance in representing the demands of the local populace, stating, “Regional parties like the SAD play a crucial role in raising the demands of the local populace.”

He also commented on the political dynamics in Punjab, referring to the Congress’s relationship with the AAP as a ‘friendly match.’

Addressing a serious matter, Jakhar criticized the BJP-led Haryana government for the unfortunate death of Shubhkaran Singh during the ongoing farm agitation. However, he also urged farmer union leaders not to exploit the sentiments of youngsters.
Notably, BJP National President J P Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are expected to attend the first barsi of late SAD patriarch Parkash Singh Badal at his native village in Punjab on March 10. The event holds significance within the political landscape of the state.
