The Leader of the Opposition (LoP), Partap Singh Bajwa on Monday dared the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Punjab Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister, Anmol Gagan Maan to fulfil their promises by providing Minimum Support Price (MSP) on 22 crops.
“Before the Punjab Assembly Elections in 2022, both of them had vowed to provide MSP at 22 crops once the Aam Aadmi Party managed to form the government in the state. Meanwhile, it’s been two years since the AAP formed the government, and the AAP-led Punjab government must fulfil its long pending commitment”, Bajwa added.
Senior Congress Leader, Bajwa said that the cabinet minister Anmol Gagan Maan had categorically said that the AAP would provide MSP within five minutes of forming the government. Similarly, CM Bhagwant Mann had challenged then Congress CM to leave the position if he was unable to give MSP on 22 crops.
“Now they owe an explanation to the people of Punjab about what stopped them from fulfilling their promise. At a time when farmers of Punjab have been struggling to cross the Haryana border to protest in Delhi with the demand for MSP, the AAP must intersect it’s own promise”, Bajwa added.
The opposition leader said that since the BJP-led Union government seemed reluctant to legalise the MSP, instead of intermediate in the meetings between farmers’ unions and central government, Mann should simply announce the MSP as he promised before the assembly elections.
“The Punjabi have now got to know that they have been deceived by the false promises of the AAP during elections. Since Bhagwant Mann is a professional comedian, he made jokes of the people of Punjab. He has never been sincere about whatever he promised before elections”, Bajwa added.
