Bhagal bridge collapse: No casualties reported

In the wake of an under-construction bridge collapse over the Ganga river which crumbled like a house of cards in Bihar’s Bhagalpur, the district’s Deputy Development Commissioner Kumar Anurag claimed on Tuesday that no casualties had been reported.

Anurag  said in a statement “As you all know, the bridge collapsed after pillar number 9 from the Khagaria side, after that, we deployed a team of the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) so that any casualties could be found. There is no causality from here [Bhagalpur].

“The team is deployed at the site still and the search operation is still on,” he further said before adding that there is no untoward situation on this side.
