‘Badalta Kashmir’ Song by Kashmiri Rappers Echoes Positivity Post Article 370

Humaira and MC Raa, a dynamic rap duo from Kashmir, have released a new rap anthem titled ‘Badalta Kashmir’, showcasing the positive changes in the Kashmir Valley following the abrogation of Article 370.

MC Raa, discussing the song’s inspiration, stated, “This song attempts to highlight the ongoing developments in Kashmir. The improvements in Srinagar, the G20 summit’s success, and the establishment of a smart city were my inspirations. Hip-hop artists observe their surroundings, and I wanted to reflect the progress I witnessed while traveling from Srinagar to Shopian through this rap.”

The Government of India shared the song on its official Instagram page, captioning it, “The youth of Kashmir have spoken, expressing themselves through an energetic rap song! Listen to the anthem encapsulating the emergence of #NayaKashmir.”

The rap highlights significant events, including the G20 meetings, the Amarnath Yatra, and the development of Digital India.

Regarding the collaboration with Humaira, MC Raa expressed, “While composing this song, I felt the need for a female artist because I’ve noticed a significant change in the perception of girls. Earlier, they were judged by their attire, but now that’s not the case anymore. So, I decided to feature a female rapper.”

Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina applauded the song, stating on his X account, “This Kashmiri artist showcased pro-level rapping—well done, Jammu and Kashmir.”

Union Minister of State for Electronics and Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar also shared the song, stating, “Naye Bharat Ka Naya Kashmir. Young Indians are changing the landscape of  Kashmir!”The rap resonates as a testament to Kashmir’s evolving landscape and the voices of its youth celebrating the region’s transformation.
