Atta-Dal scheme expands to include single women and health-affected individuals

The Atta-Dal scheme in Punjab is seeing an upgrade. According to information received, the benefits of this scheme will now be extended to single women, HIV-affected individuals, cancer patients, and families affected by COVID-19. Punjab’s Minister of Food and Supplies, Lal Chand Kataruchak, provided this information in the state assembly. During the session, Abohar MLA Sandeep Jakhar raised questions about the biased inspection of ration cards, to which Minister Kataruchak stated that the Punjab government has relaxed the conditions for issuing ration cards to people severely affected by serious illnesses. The Atta-Dal scheme aims to provide benefits on a social basis, including HIV, cancer, and COVID-affected individuals, as well as single women. Minister Kataruchak mentioned that during this phase, 1.57 crore beneficiaries in the state are availing the benefits of the Atta-Dal scheme.
