One of the 200 assembly seats in Rajasthan is Lalsot. This seat, known for the revered religious sites Paplaj Mata and Bijasan Mata, came into existence in 1972. The historic Hela Khayal Dangal held during the Gangaur festival is globally famous. The current holder of this seat is the Congress party, with MLA Parasadi Lal Meena representing the constituency.
While talking about the political history of the Lalsot seat, Congress has maintained its influence in the elections held here so far. Looking at the past 5 elections, there has been tough competition between Congress and BJP, much like the broader trend of power change in Rajasthan every 5 years. In 1980, Congress’ Ram Sahai Sonad won the election for the Lalsot assembly seat. After that, in the elections held in 1985, 1990, 1993, and 1998, Congress’ Parasadi Lal Meena became the MLA. In 2003, the public bestowed their blessings on BJP’s Veerendra Meena. In 2008, Congress’ Parasadi Lal Meena won the election. In 2013, BJP’s Kirodilal Meena was elected as the MLA. In 2018, Congress’ Parasadi Lal Meena once again won the election and became the MLA.
The caste dynamics of the Lalsot assembly seat, the total number of voters is around 2,83,000. The number of voters from the Scheduled Tribe community is around 91,000, and there are approximately 50,000 voters from the Scheduled Caste. In addition, there are around 57,000 voters from the OBC community, while the number of voters from the general category is around 38,000. There are about 6,000 voters from the minority community.
