AS GURUGRAM BECOMES COVID HOTSPOT, TROUBLES PILE UP FOR ADMINISTRATION

Covid-19 is affecing Haryana at large scale as the state has witnessed a multifold increase in the fresh cases of that is adding to the woes of the government as well as the health department. Gurugram, which falls in National Capital Region (NCR) and is adjourning to Delhi, has emerged as a hotspot like earlier, as out of the total cases reported this year in Haryana, more than 45 percent surfaced in Gurugram.

A total of 38728 cases were reported in Haryana till Thursday out of these, nearly 45% people were found infected in Gurugram. It is a noticeable fact that during previous two waves of the pandemic, the disease had affected the Gurugram district at a large scale. Besides, the adjoining Faridabad also emerges among the most affected districts as it comes in second place in terms of fresh cases after the third wave hit the state. Apart from Gurugram and Faridabad, Panchkula and Ambala districts follow suit.

In the wake of the spike in fresh cases in Gurugram and the rumors of imposing lockdown, Deputy Commissioner of Gurugram, Dr Yash Garg had outrightly rejected such speculation and rumors and said that there is no possibility of lockdown in Gurugram district right now, workers should not panic and keep doing their work. Further, he said, the situation of Covid-19 infection in Gurugram district is still under control and there is no requirement of a lockdown so far. “The people of the district, especially the workers, should not panic but take precautions,” he added.

It is worth stating that as many as 38728 cases were reported in Haryana and Gurugram occupies first place with 17882 cases to be followed by the neighboring district Faridabad with 6078 cases, and as many as 2451 and 1900 people were infected by the deadly disease in the Panchkula and Ambala districts respectively, during the first 12 days of January.

Besides, 21 patients lost their lives due to the Covid-19 in Haryana and the death toll continues to witness a spurt, which is adding to the problems of the health department.
