CHANDIGARH: A 41-year-old army jawan allegedly shot himself dead with his licensed pistol while on duty on Wednesday night. Victim has been identified as Manoj a native of Jharkhand. Victim’s family has been informed about the incident and the body has been shifted to GMCH 32 for postmortem. As information received by Sector 31 police, the victim was on duty when he shot himself and his colleagues rushed to the spot after hearing the gunshot. He was immediately rushed to the Command hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. Police has initiated an investigation at Sector 31 police station. No suicide note was found from the spot.
