Apple’s Vision Pro Headset Faces Production Setback

The much-anticipated Vision Pro headset from Apple seems to be encountering a major setback, with reports indicating a significant reduction in production orders.

According to a source speaking to Mashable, Apple is reducing its projected shipment estimates for the year, indicating a drop in demand that falls well below initial forecasts. The tech company had reportedly aimed to deliver between 700,000 to 800,000 units of the Vision Pro headset initially.

However, recent information indicates that Apple has revised its projections down to a modest 400,000 to 450,000 units for the entire year. This substantial decrease in forecasted sales signals a significant drop in consumer interest, particularly in the United States, where demand is said to have sharply declined. The decision to reduce production comes as unexpected, particularly given Apple’s intentions to expand the launch of the Vision Pro into markets outside the US later this year.

As demand wanes in its primary market, Apple is taking a cautious stance toward its global rollout, indicating a sobering reality for the once highly anticipated headset, according to Mashable. Once celebrated as a groundbreaking piece of technology, the Vision Pro now seems to be diminishing in appeal among consumers.

What was previously a topic of significant hype and anticipation has now receded into obscurity, marking a change in the direction of Apple’s ambitious foray into augmented reality. In light of these developments, Apple is purportedly reassessing its future strategies for the Vision Pro lineup.

According to the Mashable report, there might not be a new model of the headset in 2025, as the company contends with declining interest and unpredictable market dynamics. Additionally, forecasts suggest a potential decrease in Vision Pro shipments for the next year, presenting a notable departure from previous expectations of continuous growth.
