Another SC petition calling for a CBI investigation into the death of Atiq Ahmed

In order to have the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) look into the murder of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf in front of Uttar Pradesh Police, a letter appeal has been filed in the Supreme Court.

Amitabh Thakur, a retired IPS officer, filed the letter petition in order to ask the Supreme Court to order the relevant respondents to take notice of the petitioner’s representation dated 16 April and, in response, order the State of Uttar Pradesh to transfer the FIR against the suspects Lovelesh Tiwari, Sunny Singh, and Arun Maurya in the 15 April murder of Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf to the CBI. On Saturday night in Prayagraj, Atiq Ahmed and Ashraf Ahmed were shot to death as they were being transported to a hospital by UP Police for medical evaluation.
