AMID THE THIRD-WAVE SCARE, HARYANA TO SET UP 40 OXYGEN PLANTS

Chandigarh: In the wake of experts’ warning about the possibility of a third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Haryana government has come in action mode and is putting its best to be self-reliant about the availability of oxygen. Learning a lesson from the past, the government has come up with a plan regarding the same, and 40 oxygen plants will be set up in the state from the PM Cares Fund while tenders for 139 oxygen plants will be rolled out soon.

Home Minister Anil Vij said that the government wants to make Haryana self-reliant with regard to oxygen, and for this oxygen generator plants will be set up in every hospital across the state so that it can be made available timely to the patients in case the fatal disease strikes back. The state will not have to seek oxygen from anyone else when required, thus, the state will move forward using the experiences from the past, Vij said.

Some oxygen plants are also being set up in Haryana through CSR. Apart from this, orders have been given to install piped oxygen delivery facilities to every bed in every hospital and medical college. Besides, a 1000 liters per minute oxygen plant was started at PGI Rohtak on Thursday. Similarly, another 833 liters oxygen plant is being facilitated to the people. Apart from this, an oxygen plant of 1000 LPM capacity will be functional soon.

Two High-Capacity Oxygen Generator Plants have been installed in PGIMS. In addition, 1000 LPM generators have been provided by DRDO on behalf of the Government of India and 833 LPM generators have been provided by McKenzie Group under CSR. Apart from this, within the coming two weeks, the third generator of 1000 LPM will also be started. Vij said that the state government has tried to improve health services and in the case of medicines, the state government has implemented only WHO-GMP essential medicines at government institutions. Similarly, in the case of equipment, the state is procuring it under USA-FDI certified parametres.
